Easy Coffee Cake…Or Is It Cheese Danish?

by admin on December 4, 2011

This is the easiest, tastiest coffee cake ever.  But I think it is misnamed.  It’s more like a cheese danish.  Sorry the photo doesn’t show the generous cheese filling very well.   This recipe can easily be halved and placed in an 8X8-inch baking dish.  Just use a small egg instead on one large one.

2- 8 oz. cans crescent rolls (Full, unscored sheets of crescent dough are now available)
1 cup sugar
2- 8 oz. packages softened cream cheese
1 tsp vanilla
1 egg-separated
1/2 cup chopped pecans

1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
2. Spread one can of crescent rolls in bottom of 9×13 inch pan.
3. Cream together 3/4 cup sugar, cream cheese, vanilla, and egg yolk.
4. Spread mixture over the rolls.
5. Top with the second package of crescent roll dough.
6. Beat egg white until frothy and spread on top.
7. Sprinkle the top with the remaining sugar and nuts.
8. Bake for 30-35 minutes
