Operation Christmas Child 2010 Shoeboxes

I can’t say that filling my yearly Operation Christmas Child shoeboxes is a seasonal thing.   No, I love hunting year round for great deals and bargains which I then buy a plentiful supply and put into storage.   November is just the culmination of a year’s worth of happy labor.  I decided to start documenting what I put in my boxes so that I can remember and to help others with ideas for their boxes and where to get the items I packed.  So here goes…..

GIRL Age 10-14

Bandanna – $1.00  Wal-Mart
Water Color Paints – less than $2.00 at Wal-Mart or Target, get at start of school sales
Multiplication Flash Cards – $1.00 at either Wal-Mart or Target
Hair clips – less than $3.00
Calculator – $1.00  Wal-Mart
Pencils, eraser, sharpener – Wal-mart….the sharpeners were bought in bulk at Wal-mart after Valentine’s Day for 75% off
Colored pencils – less than $2.00, buy at start of school sales at Wal-Mart
Ruler – $1.00 or less at Wal-Mart, start of school sales
Mini gel pens – $1.00 Target
Note writing gift set – $1.00 at Micheal’s Craft Store!
Candy – Individually wrapped Ring Pop, Fun Dip, Nerds, Lollipop – all bought at 50 -75% at Wal-Mart the day after Valentine’s Day.
Dr. Fresh Traveling Toothbrush and toothpaste – Dollar Tree $1.00
Hair brush and comb set – less than $3.00 at Wal-Mart or Target

 

BOY Age 5-9

Addition and Subtraction Flash cards- $1.00 at either Wal-Mart or Target
Pencils, eraser, sharpener – Wal-mart….the sharpeners were bought in bulk at Wal-mart after Valentine’s Day for 75% off
Candy – Individually wrapped Ring Pop, Fun Dip, Nerds, Lollipop – all bought at 50 -75% at Wal-Mart the day after Valentine’s Day.
Dr. Fresh Traveling Toothbrush and toothpaste – Dollar Tree $1.00
Harmonica – less than $3.00 at Target
Parachute jumper – less than $3.00 at Target
4 foam airplanes – dollar or two at Wal-Mart
Farm Set – less than $2.00 at Wal-Mart
2 toy trucks/cars – a few dollars at Wal-mart or Target.  Get nice once, not cheap ones.
Hacky sack type soccer ball – Wal-Mart
Tic-Tac-Toe Key ring game – Comes in a pack of four as party favors at Wal-Mart…$1.00 each
Kaleidoscope, little whistle – Party favors from Wal-Mart
Squirty Octopus – pool/bathtoy that squirts water; came as a set…about 75 cents each.  Wal-Mart
